Dougie Poynter is an English musician, songwriter, fashion model, clothing designer, author, DJ, actor and philanthropist. He is the bassist and youngest member of the pop rock band McFly.
Dougie rose to fame in 2004 with his first single ‘5 colours in Her Hair.’ McFly went onto earn a Guinness World Record for being the youngest band to have a debut album enter the charts in the top position, previously held by The Beatles. McFly have reformed to perform a sell-out London O2 show in November 2019 and a sell-out arena tour in 2020.
A long-standing conservationist and WWF ambassador, Dougie is a strong environmental advocate who uses his social media pages as influential platform to bring about change. In 2012, Poynter helped launch the Worldwide Fund for Nature’s mountain gorilla adoption programme. He is also an active participant of The 5 Gyres Institute and their mission to eradicate the pollution of plastic in the ocean. Most recently, Dougie has released a children’s book ‘Plastic Sucks!’ to educate kids on Anti Plastics and how to make a difference.
In 2011, Dougie was crowned the king of hit TV show ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.’ As well as regular TV appearances, Dougie is also an experienced DJ and regularly performs a multi-genre set on the university and club circuits.
